The Sky Was on Fire

January 7, 2025—the sky bled fire. Fierce northeast winds drove flames toward the Pacific. I stood alone on a rooftop, capturing images, unaware of the devastation unfolding as fire tore through one of Southern California’s most beautiful regions.

On the streets, disorientation reigned—winds bent palm trees, people struggled to stand, avoiding the terrifying sight above. In the days that followed, Los Angeles suffered. Those who lost homes suffered most.

The scar remains and will take time to heal—time to forget the day the sky was on fire.
